DocMorris opens first pharmacy in Italy

Celesio pushes ahead with internationalisation of its strong pharmacy brand

Today, on 14 July, DocMorris opens its first pharmacy in Milan, Italy. After Germany, Ireland, and Sweden, Italy is now the fourth European country in which Celesio’s strong pharmacy brand is represented.

“DocMorris’ entry into the Italian market is a further step in the consequent internationalisation of one of the most popular pharmacy brands in Europe”, says Wolfgang Mähr, member of the Celesio Management Board and responsible for DocMorris. The successful market entries in Ireland and Sweden confirmed the international potential of the brand. “We are confident that with excellent service and advice, competitive prices, and an attractive range of own-brands we will establish DocMorris successfully also in Italy.”

“The pharmacy is a pilot project for establishing the DocMorris brand in Italy”, explains Thomas von Künsberg Sarre, Managing Director of DocMorris Kooperationen. “Just as we did in Ireland, we will monitor closely how the DocMorris brand is accepted by customers and then assess the market opportunities.” Künsberg adds that Celesio is planning to open more test pharmacies in Italy in the near future.

Celesio is present in the Italian wholesale market and pharmacy market since 1999 with its subsidiary Admenta Italia.
