Health and education in focus
When Franz Ludwig Gehe founded his company in 1835, he had a vision which he determinedly pursued: making medicine affordable for all and thereby contributing to "improving public health". In the 1860s, the success of his company led to his idea of establishing the Gehe Foundation to "improve public health". At the turn of the century, the Foundation acquired the status of an academy. It laid the foundation for today's Saxon Academy of Management and Economics [Sächsischen Verwaltungs- und Wirtschaftsakademie] and the current GEHE Academy. The foundation library is today part of the Saxon State Library.
