After the reunification of Germany, the biggest investment programme since the end of the war starts. Six branches are opened in Neubrandenburg, Schwerin, Berlin, Magdeburg, Halle/Saale and Dresden.

17 branches nation-wide guarantee best possible supply to pharmacies.

Acquisition of allphamed Arzneimittel GmbH, Göttingen, and of ALIUD PHARMA GmbH & Co. KG, Laichingen by GEHE Arbet Arzneimittel Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH, Stuttgart. In 1993, GEHE Arbet is renamed as GEHE Arzneimittel GmbH - Beteiligungsgesellschaft -, Stuttgart.

Acquisition of BROWN COR, Miami USA.

1991

Acquisition of the drug company Jenapharm GmbH, Jena, and establishment of the Polish group company GEHE Pharma, Warsaw. Amalgamation of OCP, Poland Sp. zo. in 1993.

Establishment of Cura GmbH, Eberswalde.

1992

Opening of a production plant in Weimar.

Establishment of an endowment chair for pharmacy at Friedrich-Schiller-University, Jena, for five years by Jenapharm GmbH.

Acquisition of Laboratoires Biostabilex-Urap S.A., Paris. Renamed GNR-pharma S.A., Paris in 1995.

1993

Restructuring: GEHE AG becomes a holding company. Pharmaceutical wholesale business is split out to become GEHE Pharma Handel GmbH, while other business activities form their own corporate entities.

Establishment of GEHE Pharma St. Petersburg as a joint venture with Russian partners (GEHE' s stake is 65 percent).

Expansion of Czech wholesale business, established in 1991 as GEHE Pharma Praha.

With the acquisition of a majority holding in the French pharmaceutical wholesaler Office Commercial Pharmaceutique OCP S. A., Paris, the group becomes the largest European pharmaceutical wholesaler with its key operations in Belgium, Germany, France, Portugal and the Czech Republic.

1994

Acquisition of the specialised mail order business for office fittings TOPDEQ GmbH, Pfungstadt, and the AVENUE INDUSTRIAL SUPPLY, Toronto (Canada).

Acquisition of Rhein-Sieg-Pharma Grosshandelsgesellschaft mbH, Bonn, with a branch in Bonn that becomes GEHE' s 18th branch.

Opening of the Ostrava branch, as the second location of GEHE Pharma Praha (Czech Republic).

Acquisition of Kellner Reha-Technik GmbH & Co. KG, Münster, and of Pro Reha Handelsgesellschaft mbH, Lindlar. In 1995 transformation into Pro Reha Handelsgesellschaft für Krankenpflegeartikel und Rehabilitationshilfen mbH & Co. KG.

Establishment of the business division healthcare services, comprised of Cura GmbH, Eberswalde, Pharma-Dom S.A./Orkyn Paris, Kellner Reha-Technik GmbH & Co. KG, Münster, and Pro Reha Handelsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, Lindlar.

Establishment of ALIUD PHARMA GmbH & Co. KEG, Vienna (Austria).

Separation of the data processing sector of GEHE AG into GEHE Informatik Services GmbH & Co. KG, Stuttgart (GEHIS).

Establishment of GEHIS France S.A.R.L., Paris (France).

Acquisition of AAH plc, Runcorn, the largest pharmaceutical wholesaler in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and also the operator of the British Hills pharmacy chain.

Renaming of GEHE Arzneimittel GmbH - Beteiligungsgesellschaft - as GEHE Medica GmbH, Stuttgart, with a holding function for the pharmaceutical production division.

Establishment of Jenapharm GmbH as GEHE Medica Produktionsgesellschaft mbH & Co. KG, Weimar, now a separate unit of the production sector.

Establishment of TOPDEQ AG, Hünenberg (Switzerland).

Sale of NEAT IDEAS LTD., Doncaster (United Kingdom).

1996

Conversion of the nominal value of the GEHE share at par DM 5.

Establishment of the European workers council.

Establishment of TOPDEQ B.V., Mijdrecht Netherlands.

Aquisition of POWELL & Co. LTD., Llanelly United Kingdom.

Establishment of GEHIS UK Ltd., Runcorn United Kingdom.

Sale of the shares in GEHE Pharma St. Petersburg Russia.

Sale of GEHE Pharma, Warsaw Poland.

Sale of OCP Poland Sp.zo Poland.

Sale of all enterprises within the business division pharmaceutical production, with the exception of a joint venture with Schering in Jenapharm GmbH & Co. KG.

Acquisition of DOZIER EQUIPMENT COMPANY, Milwaukee USA.

Acquisition of Lloyds Chemists plc, Tamworth, the second largest pharmacy chain in the United Kingdom.

1998

Merger of Kellner Reha-Technik GmbH & Co. KG, Münster, with Pro Reha Handelsgesellschaft für Krankenpflegeartikel und Rehabilitationshilfen mbH & Co. KG, Lindlar.

GEHE cooperates with COFARES, Madrid, the market leader in Spain.

Acquisition of Gerdmans Ingredningar AB, Markaryd Sweden.

Sale of Galenitalia S.p.A., Rome, a firm of OCP, Paris France

Acquisition of Conney Safety Products Co. Inc., Madison/Wisconsin USA.

Acquisition of the wholesaler Messrs. Dr. Krey + Vigener GmbH & Co. KG, Düsseldorf Germany.

1999

The largest pharmacy chain in Europe is formed with the merger of 900 Lloydspharmacy and 360 Hills shops in the United Kingdom.

The group wins the bidding process for the municipal pharmacies in Bologna, Italy.

Acquisition of INPHARMA with 14 pharmacies in the Czech Republic.

The Clermont-Ferrand branches of DROGUERIE MEDICINALE MARTIN and OCP are amalgamated into a newly built branch in Clermont-Ferrand, France.

With the stock market flotation of TAKKT on 15 September 1999, the spin-off of the mail order Division is completed.

ORKYN, the French part of the healthcare services division is sold to AIR LIQUIDE of France.

In Portugal two pharmaceutical wholesale companies, DIPROFAR of Torres Novas and CFR, Santarém, are purchased.

The new "Nexus Point" branch at Birmingham, United Kingdom, begins operating. About
70 percent of the line items handled there are processed automatically.

The German branch in Bonn moves into its new building. With optimised processes, a higher level of productivity is achieved and better quality of supply assured.

GEHE sells Pro Reha, the German section of the healthcare services division, in a management buy-out.
